I first discovered fabric as a powerful aesthetic medium when travelling as a young woman through Asia, a rite of passage for many Australians learning about the world. I started a collection of fabric and learned the basics of batik in Java and carpet weaving in Nepal. In my recent projects I have worked with fabric and clothing which not only contain my personal story but offer an opportunity for others to become involved in the work. Some of the fabric works encapsulate memories of my journeys through Asia.
